Giants Tie the Commanders in All-Time Blunder Game | 1032

Following baseball means following it to new cities, new ballparks, new neighborhoods, new restaurants and new spots to hit before the very first pitch. Sometimes that's a hotel right in the heart of Boston, or a weekend in San Diego. booking.com makes it easy for every baseball fan to find the right stay, wherever the game is taking you next. From where you are to where you want to be, that's booking.com. Booking.yeah, an official travel partner of MLB, Major League Baseball Trademarks, used with permission. Jaden Daniels takes the snap with 12 seconds left. He drops back, he's gonna scramble, he's gonna scramble, he's gonna stand there, lay there, not move, but the clock is still running, they don't have any timeouts left. There's one second left, Darius Alexander kicks the ball, the ball is snapped, but the game is over, and the commanders have one of the biggest all time blunders that you will ever see in a game that consisted of a comedy of errors by both teams. Hello and welcome back to Talkin Giants, brought to you by the Fanatics Sports & Casino. It is the New York Football Giants 27. It is the Washington Commanders 27. In a game that I can't even describe what I just witnessed, I have never witnessed anything like this in my life as a football fan. The range of emotions rooting for this football team just continues and perpetuates every single week where we think, up, everything's over, the game's over, give up, oh no, there's a chance, oh no, they're coming back, oh my gosh, they tied it, oh my god, they're going to win it, oh my god, they're going to lose it in devastating fashion. Shaun, walk me through what's going through your head right now as the New York Football Giants are now three and one and one on the season. Well, I feel way more positive about a tie than I could have ever imagined. It's not to say I'm not frustrated and angry and we'll get to the Skattebo fumble and the decision making and everything that went in it, but when you just think about the idea the Giants were dead in this game, they fight back, obviously things still don't go their way enough to win the game, but to have the commanders get the ball back in that fumble, go down, get well into field goal range and have them not be able to get the clock stop to kick a field goal and you walk away with the tie and you take into account the ramifications of what this weekend was with the Cowboys losing on Thursday, with the Eagles incredibly losing to start a Sunday morning, you knew that this was actually a bigger game for the commanders to hang in there and have to win the game. So the Giants in the end, I'm positive because they leave today with a game and a half lead in the division, which listen, a lot of times ties can feel like losses. I don't know how a tie feels like an absolute loss today, considering how much good it does the Giants in the standings, and especially where they were at, down two touchdowns after that Terry McClure and two point conversion. They were going to lose the game. It was over. It was over and over time when Skattebo fumbles. And Shaun, and Shaun Skattebo fumbles, and I'm like, I legitimately, I'm like, I'm going to throw up. I'm going to throw up the way that they fought, the way that they battled back, the way the defense got, the Washington Commanders had the game won twice in the fourth quarter, and then they had it won in overtime too when they get the ball at midfield both times, and the defense miraculously with Dennard Wilson showing balls, and testicular fortitude, and Abdul Carter getting insane tackles, and sending Drew Phillips on these blitzes, and not being afraid of Jadon Daniels, just like we're either going to put them on the ground or we're going to die. And guess what? They put them on the ground, and they got stops, and that insane Abdul Carter tackle. I'm like, oh, well, you're not kicking a field goal. The commanders had this game won technically three times, twice, once in overtime, before they lost it. And then in the fourth quarter as well. And all of these things are going their way. And it's like, oh man, the Giants way, I'm saying now, all of these things were starting to go the Giants way. It's like, you can't, they're not gonna lose this game, right? They're not. And then they technically didn't lose it, man. This was one of the most insane, crazy games and waves of emotion that I have ever experienced in my life. It's one of the most insane games I've ever experienced in my life. And what is now unfolding, at least in the early term, to be one of the most insane Giants seasons I've ever experienced in my life. Because Justin just macro real quick to see where we were at. Devastation Monday night with Jackson Dart. And understand that a game, we continue this, undefeated in games not started by Jackson Dart on the season with Giants. And teams are just begging the Giants to take these games. They're begging them. I mean, whether it's the Arizona Cardinals getting stopped a week ago on the goal line or the Commanders again, it's unbelievable what the Commanders did in this game. It's unbelievable that Dan Quinn allowed this team to follow a lead. And it's unbelievable that Dan Quinn and Jaden Daniels had zero situational understanding of what was going on there without timeouts. Jaden Daniels is laying there the way I lay basically on the coffee table after a night of drinking. What is he doing? And somebody's calling your name. Shaun, Shaun, and you're... What? Did the Chinese group get here yet? I'm watching it right now. So, the tackle happens with about eight seconds left. Jermaine Edmonds, and that's technically goes down as a sack for Jermaine Edmonds. That's going to be important at the end of the year when we stack, compile things. So, Jermaine Edmonds sacks, it's a sack, Jaden Daniels tackled with eight seconds left. He's seven, six. He doesn't put the ball down until like five and a half seconds left. I honestly think, Shaun, there is a world where maybe they get this playoff. If Jaden Daniels, I honestly do think it was maybe a two second difference because by the time that the ball is snapped and there was a whole bunch of discombobulation, very, can I tell you the biggest play that Darius Alexander is ever going to make in a Giants uniform, most likely? Yeah, I agree with this. He accidentally kicks the ball. Crazy. I didn't even realize he was on the field, to be honest with you. You're actually breaking news to me as I'm trying to look back at this play. So I very much think, and again, I'm rewatching it right now. The ball is set with maybe a half second left. If Jaden Daniels is not laying there two seconds, like he's a baby in a fetal position, then I don't know, man. Did he think he had a timeout? I don't know. You know, I also got to be honest, too, just as a quick aside, because we do this all the time anyway, the broadcast was also so bad throughout the day that in that play, it never even occurs to me pre-snap that there is an opportunity with no timeouts that any play in the field of play could result in the time ticking away. Like I understand that Jaden Daniels still could have gotten up and spiked the ball, but the fact that that was even a possibility, did it even dawn on you pre-snap that that could even be a potential outcome in that spot? I mean the time was tight anyway. You know, with no timeouts, that play is either got to be, you know, spiked down or throw to the sideline. That was incredible that he took off like that and he had that awareness or lack of awareness. Dude, I, I don't, I don't even, like I'm with you where I feel, I think mostly generally more positive. No team in the NFC East won this weekend. Circumstances matter around this tie. That's the best way I could put it. They were going to lose the game and instead of losing, they, it ends in a tie. So generally, like I do feel, I think good. I think, I don't know. I don't know how to feel. I think good too. And Justin, I know you're a little younger than me. I mean, let's just play History Road here. 1997 and out of nowhere Giants team ties the Washington, then Redskins and Gus Ferrat rams his head into a wall and gets a concussion. That team with that tie ends up helping them with a half a game, win the division later in the year. 2022, I was in the building with a now we know sort of semi-backup type quarterback and Daniel Jones in a magical year, tie the Washington, I think then football team, that half a game helps propel them into the postseason at the end. So it's so funny that now we're on our third rendition of Giants tie the team from Washington, I think on three different team names for Washington, all with similar circumstance when you consider who the Giants quarterbacks were in those seasons, and both of the previous ones, that half a game in the tie ultimately helped them make the postseason as opposed to miss with a loss. Again, I can't believe we're here. And I appreciate everybody watching. John Harbaugh on the tie, happy it wasn't a loss, sad it wasn't a win. I agree. Yeah. I think I'm a little bit more happy it wasn't a loss. And I don't want to, look, and we're going to get to the negatives, I don't want to papoo the idea that the Giants had several opportunities to win this game, because of course they did. But I don't know, man, like they're a bit, definitely, like I remember 2022 walking out of MetLife Stadium, feeling like that time. That was grimy. That was bad. Felt like a loss, right? Like you have a play to Richie James that I think got dropped or whatever it was. We end up, you know, 58-yard field goal, good no, we miss. That game felt like a loss. This just because of the way it ended. And also, I do think the fact that they did fight back in a game that I just, I don't know, I sat there basically twiddling my thumbs in the fourth quarter at the beginning of the fourth quarter, and we've lost the game. So I don't know, man, just to think about where we all were at three o'clock in the afternoon, and we're doing this live, it's 5 15. You tell me, if I told you that game ended a tie at three o'clock in the afternoon, would you be happy right now? Because I know I am. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I tweeted that it wasn't over. Remember, the Giants started drive off with the screen, and they're down by two scores. And I'm like, I don't think this is over. Usually defenses typically do start to play a little bit more laissez-faire. And even though Dan Quinn and the commander's defense, they still brought the pressure and they brought the blitz. As a defense, I thought they just very much took their foot off the gas. And I think the Giants put their foot on the gas in terms of their aggressiveness and actually calling them downfield concepts that are going to work as opposed to just Jameis Winston, Hail Marys going down the field. So Shaun, let's start with the offense and let's actually talk about this game. First of all, I want to thank you so much for joining us on this reaction live stream. On this reaction episode, if you can please like the episode on YouTube, if you can subscribe on YouTube as well. And if you're on the Apple Podcasts app, maybe give us five stars. On Spotify too, you can give us five stars as well. Really appreciate everybody hanging out with us as always. So Shaun, let's talk about the offense and we're going to start off with the quarterback report. So the quarterback report, as always, it's brought to us by Mohegan Sun. It's time for the QB Report brought to you by Mohegan Sun. QB has always surprised us. Man, Mohegan has come on board and Jameis Winston just what we think that he can't surprise us even more. He always continues to surprise us. That's why we love football, you bet. Just like Mohegan Sun, where something unexpected is always just around the corner. So, Jameis Winston's day. Oh my God. He ends up- The Jameis Winston experience. Go ahead. 54 attempts on 33 completions, 326 yards, two sacks, total of 21 yards lost. He also lost a fumble too. I think they counted that fumble as a rushing attempt and not a sack. So technically I would say it's three sacks taken, three touchdowns. I mean, the big thing for Jameis is that there's no interceptions, but Shaun, we're going through the first half and we're thinking this is it. We're going to come on a postgame show and the Giants are going to get blown out. And we're going to be like, all right, well, JJ McCarthy is coming in next week, right? And instead, he's not. He's not. And I give Jameis a lot of credit because that could not have been easy throughout the first half when the Giants are running that sub package with JJ McCarthy in the game. The couple of times he did it. And look, I understand that it serves a purpose. And I know I certainly was calling for JJ McCarthy to play in that first half. Yeah, but have a new gimmicky, Shaun. They were never going to let JJ McCarthy throw. And then the commander's defense knew it too. Yeah, no, no. It became one dimensional. I agree. But my point is, I think you actually, by doing that, hurt the flow of Jameis Winston in that first half. And then by the time you abandoning it, it was no surprise. Albeit you had to abandon it because you were down two touchdowns and Jameis had to let it rip. But by the time you abandoned it, it was when Jameis got going. And a lot of the Jameis stuff was in the hurry with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter. And that certainly helped alleviate the problems as well. Look, I just think for Jameis Winston, who we all have our issues with, don't get me wrong. That was where being a veteran quarterback who's basically seen it all in this league comes into play. Like he had nothing to do but bet on himself as he rallied because he did everything he could. It felt like to lose that game early. I mean, some of those throws were just off base, off target. I know that Malik will get blamed for that one deep ball in the first half as well. But just to be able to collect yourself and not let the moment overwhelm you and not feel like, hey, man, there's a chance I lose my job next week, like you said, they're already bringing McCarthy in. And just find the accuracy he did in taking some of the easy throws he had. And also, like, here's a novel idea we've been screaming about. You have Isaiah Likley and Malik Neighbors on the team. They basically combined for, what, 35 targets and 20 catches in this game. Probably a good idea just to keep feeding those two and good things will happen. Yeah, I thought they started to run some more screens too, and they got the running backs involved in the receiving game as well. There was a really, really nice clear out where they checked it down to Tyrone Tracy. Everybody was basically just clearing out down the field. Tyrone Tracy gets a nice little gain there. So take it what the defense gives you. This is the first half, second half splits, by the way. Seven completions on 16 attempts for 72 yards. That was the first half. 72 yards. Horrible. Seven completions in the first half. The second half, 21 completions, 28 attempts, 211 yards, and three touchdowns. And then over time, he was five for ten for 43 yards as well. Yeah, I mean, he just completely changed everything he was doing. Now, I don't know. Now, Justin, did you get a sense that in the second half, this felt also weather related as well, where the rain started to lighten up a bit, and he just felt like he was perfect for the football better? I will say, it did look brighter. It did. Because, I mean, it was... Now, again, I want to blame some of the missed field goals on the weather as well, because Zavada was off in the first half. But it did feel like when they came out of the half in the second half, even Washington, when they had that drive that ends with the McClure in two-point conversion, it just felt like the offenses were able to run a little more smoothly. It felt like there were less slips on the field and whatnot. So I do wonder if we finally got a breath of seeing how Jameis' arm could play a little bit when the weather calmed down a little bit compared to the last couple of weeks. But either way, he targeted the guy's account. And also, by the way, in the middle of targeting likely and targeting neighbors, how about some credit to Theo Freakin Johnson, who makes a catch he never makes in previous years. You're crazy. I was crazy. Yeah, I think it was was at the fourth quarter or overtime. It was one of those drives where they really needed it. And Theo has this I believe it was the fourth fourth quarter as they were going to quarter. And it was eventually, I think, a touchdown drive. And Theo Johnson, Jameis Winston starts throwing the ball and Theo's not even looking at the ball. And it's not even just right. It's not even like, oh, it lands in Theo Johnson's face. He has to turn his back. It's like back shoulder. And he's not even looking at Jameis as he's releasing the ball. The ball's like 75% of the way to him and he catches it. So it reminded me a lot of a Jake Ballard catch in New England in the 2011 regular season, if you remember that for a big first down as they were driving. What is it with the first half approach of Jameis Winston and the second half approach of Jameis Winston? Because now I think it's back to back weeks where is it a game plan thing where they're just so damn conservative? I mean, them not having any semblance of a running game too sucks and that hurts Jameis Winston. Oh, kill them. Kill them in the first half. Kill them in the first half. But now this is back to back weeks where I feel like we're seeing two very totally different quarterbacks. Is it because when they feel like they have to get explosive because the running game is not working and the game and the score dictated this game that that's when we see a Jameis Winston that I guess we're kind of more accustomed to? What is this first second half difference? Split? Honestly, this is one of those things we're going to clearly quote unquote watch the tape on. But I thought the first half was so like cat chasing the tail or whatever dog chasing the tail chicken and the egg when it came to the run game, right? The lack of run game, I think, was just leading Washington to kind of sit back and go, okay, we dare you to beat us with the pass. And then you've seen some dirt and throws and a lot of third and longs, right? We're not we're not in those manageable situations. The Giants did for whatever the case may be run the ball a little better in the fourth quarter when they had to, but they were also forced to throw away more because they were down in the game. Justin, look, I don't know, but the only thing I will say again is every time I looked up, it just felt like the Giants realized they were going to have to need their playmakers to make plays and like it or not, their running backs are not the playmakers right now. You could build a team to be a bully all you want and have that be your identity. But if it's not working, the two best players you have on offense are named Isaiah Likely and Malik Neighbors. And everything got more comfortable for Jameis Winston when it became a game about those two guys. It was like sitting at a blackjack table versus the dealer going, Oh my God, here's an ace and it's Isaiah Likely or Malik Neighbors every time where you just know they're going to flip it over and be 21. Feeding those guys is going to be more likely than not impossible for defenses to stop because there's two of them, not just one of them. And that just simplified everything for Jameis. At least that was the sense I felt like in the second half. Yeah, that will be one of the things that I'm interested to see looking back on it, looking back on this game. Because I don't think it was simply Dan Quinn stopped blitzing, Dan Quinn stopped being aggressive, and then it just allowed the Giants to just pick them. You know, oh, just have their slim pickings with everything in the short and intermediate part of the field because they're just playing back and zone and they're letting everything happen in front of them. Maybe we will find that when we actually look at the film and we look at the data and we look at what Washington was fully doing on defense. It certainly didn't feel like that from a front standpoint. It felt like they were they were still continuing to bring the pressure and things like that. It just felt like the Giants started to get better answers for it in the second half. So it'll be another week of there will be a part of next week's game against the Saints where I want Jameis Winston to get out of this game. I know that JJ McCarthy is probably going to be better just because he can run, just because his arm is better. But here we are. They didn't lose. They didn't lose. Now, I will say, how many more weeks do you think that second half buys Jameis Winston? As long as we're here. Because let me finish by saying this. Clearly, the package they ran with JJ McCarthy is an admission that more is only coming from JJ McCarthy. So now it's just a matter of Jameis staving this off. But you're not going to do that for the second half he had. I think the second that they have a game where it's quarters one through four, where it looks like what it did in today's first half, then I think they go to Jameis. So Jameis Winston is just playing on borrowed time at this point. The next time they basically lose a game, you assume, unless they lose it 45-44 and it's just about the defense. He's not going to quarterback anymore. It's the same thing last week, where I thought at the end of the first half of last week's Cardinals game, I'm like, this is Jameis Winston's last game. And then he goes and he has that second half. Yeah, no, you're absolutely right. Now, I don't know where you want to go next, but I'm kind of fired up about something I want to pick your brain on. Can we go wherever we go here? Yeah, let's go to where we want to go. I do want to finish off and I want to thank Mohegan Sun. After the game, celebrate the win or loss or tie at Mohegan Sun beyond your wildest. Fox one is where MLB on Fox streams from marquee matchups to lights out performances. At home or on the go, live or on demand, never miss a moment stream now. We'll probably be talking about even Jameis a little bit more throughout this episode too, because there's so much to kind of talk about your brain. Our brains are jumbled. But Shaun, where do you want to go next year? I want to go to John Harbaugh here because I thought a couple of things in this game were clearly fascinating. Now you hear all the pregame or read all the pregame stuff. At least we were on Twitter and X about Zavada struggling pregame. And it just, I don't know, man, it felt like he was leaning on him a little too much. And then by the time you figured out that you were like close enough in field goal range, I can't believe they were still running the ball to 20 with Skattebo in overtime. Like to me, when Skattebo fumbles there, I'm yelling before the play go, we've had a problem with fumbles from running backs, which we could also talk about all season long. We are now within distance of what would amount to be basically a 37 yard field goal. That's not good enough to try for Zavada. We're trying 56 yarders all night long. You know, you got to think about this too, Shaun, where at that point did the commanders have any timeouts left? I don't think so. Well, I'm going to guess they didn't because I wasn't even aware based on the fact that they had no time. Like, I didn't even know they had no timeouts when Jayden Daniels flopped on the ground until I looked at the graphic. Yeah, clearly, Jayden Daniels didn't know that they didn't have any timeouts either. I couldn't even tell you when they took them either, by the way. So, by the way, Cam Skattebo fumbles the first play of the two minute warning. Oh my God. And John Runyon and Marcus Bowe both put their hands on their head like, Oh, I can't believe that just happened. So, it's the first play coming off, coming out of the two minute warning. The Giants nor the Commanders had any timeouts left. Both teams had zero timeouts left. So, I understand their reasoning for running the ball there because if Dominic Zavada misses, then you don't want any time left on the clock for the Commanders to go back down the field. You don't want any time left. So, you know, if you kick the ball with a minute 30 left, let's just say they run that one play, kick a field goal. It's a minute 30 left. Dominic Zavada misses. Commanders have the ball on like the 35-yard line. And all they need themselves is, you know, 20-some yards to get a field goal. And then they win the game themselves. And then if that happens, we are cursing at John Horrell being like, why did you leave any time for them on the clock? You know? Listen, I get it. Maybe it's not the biggest deal in the world. I guess I'm just leaning on the fact that I've had enough of the running back fumbles and I know in real time, I turned my sister to sit next to me, I said, Skattebo is so due for another fumble here. We fumble every freaking week. And then of course it happened. Like not, not that. I mean, what it comes down to, Shaun. Hold on to the ball. You got to know that the ball's wet, blah, blah, blah, whatever. Punch out. You got to know as a running back man that the commanders are going for Hail Marys on the defensive. That the only way that the Giants are going to lose this game is if you fumble the ball. Not Dominic Zavada missing the kick. Because you were going to tie if Dominic Zavada missed that kick. Because there was going to be no time left. Because the commanders couldn't stop the clock. The only way that the Giants were going to lose the game was if Cam Skattebo fumbled the ball. And thank God they didn't lose. But you have to know, you have to know that man. And what did we talk about? What did we talk about on our preview pod man? What did we talk about? I feel like this is a game where blank is going to come into play. More than usual. What did we say? Turnovers, right? The little things. The little things. Well, yes, that's one of the little things. The little things. And turnovers being one of them where fumbling. We talked about fumbling in this running backs. How lucky they've been that they haven't lost as many as they have. But in the end, Justin, they got to figure something out with this running back room because their usage makes no sense. Now, quick, quick, quick aside, it was nice to see Tyrone Tracy have some positive impacts on the game. But beyond that, man, the first touchdown they score when they're down the 14, or I'm trying to figure out what the hell, maybe they didn't score a touchdown. They did. Maybe it was the first touchdown. Whatever it was. Najee Harris was the guy used around the goal line and not Skattebo. They end up scoring. I think it was Likely's first touchdown. No, you're right. Because you were really... That was the Isaiah Likely touchdown. Yeah. That was the first one that he had. And Najee Harris had a minus two yard run on a second and goal from the one. Which, by the way, first and goal from the one, Jameis Winston passing a plate to Malik Nabors, then a second and goal, you're losing two yards. I think instead of it being on the one, they were on the one and a half yard line. Right. I mean, I am just QB sneaking that ball three times. And you're going to get in. Okay. And this is what I'm going to set up to the Skattebo thing. Fine. QB sneak it. You're going to get in. I'm with you. But if not, that is the stuff where Skattebo goes and will not go down and gets the extra yards. To me, I don't want to run him back other than time Skattebo touching the ball from the one and a half yard line. I don't. But you've made the conscious effort to have that be a Najee Harris drive and have Najee Harris do it. Fine. Then my rebuttal to that would be, once you even get in field goal range in overtime, like you have no problem not using Skattebo when you should use him, I'm going to my most sure-handed non-fumbling running back, I know we had one last week, but bear with me, which is Najee Harris, like in closing time, I'm sorry, Skatte has picked up these fumbles or had them go out of bounds all year. I just think if you're not going to use him on the goal line when you should, and it didn't come back to haunt you, once you know you're in clear field goal range and it's about not leaving any time on the clock, that's when I'm using my veteran in Najee Harris and not risking the wet football going on the ground from Kam Skattebo, who's had about four fumbles this year already. I just, the Skattebo usage, the good, the bad, I just think John Harbaugh and Matt Nagy, they got to figure this thing the hell out, because they're running back circulation and what they're trying to do. I just, the math isn't math-ing for me, man. The way they pick and choose when to use these running backs for what their strengths are. I want you to guess what was Nagy Harris' stat line today. I'm going to say five carries 11 yards. Five carries nine yards. Very good job. Okay. Five carries for nine yards. Nine yards. And by the way, 46% of the Giants total rushing yards, they end the day with the 103 rushing yards. 46% of those yards did come in overtime. Yeah. And by the way, if you're telling me five carries nine yards, I'm still with that stat line, once I get within it's a 37 yard field goal, I'm still doing that because I have to have the vision. If I'm a coach like Harbaugh that's all about the little things, you know that that's your most sure hit. The one thing that you can't do there is fumble the football. You're not putting the ball in the air. You're not going to pass it. So if I'm looking at my three active running backs, who's the least likely to fumble from that point out? If it's about not giving Washington time back, it's Najee Harris. Well, I mean, you can't, I feel like you can't have your cake and eat it too, because we're saying that Najee... You absolutely can't have your cake and eat it too. We're saying Najee Harris stinks, has no vision, and is slow. I think Najee Harris is just a slower... But you're in field... No, I don't care that he's slow. You're in field goal range. You said it yourself. If you miss, the whole purpose of not kicking there is to take time over the clock. I feel like you're making excuses for Cam Skattebo when there is no excuse. There is no excuse. I'm making... I have a problem with the coach that's all about the little detent. I don't have a problem with it. I shouldn't say that. I love John Harbaugh. I just think the coach has to be more aware of the players around you. Yes, Cam Skattebo can't fumble there. He's also way more likely, based on what we've seen this year, to fumble there than Najee Harris. That's all I'm saying. I disagree. I disagree with you. If you want Cam Skattebo to be a reason why you are successful on offense, then you need to give him the ball in a key pivotal moment instead of just Najee Harris where, all right, let's just get... It could be used on the goal line instead. I'm starting to yell at you that Najee Harris on the previous drive. That's the point. Their use of Cam Skattebo early didn't meet their use of him in overtime. It bothers me. I'm sorry. I don't mean to yell and scream. I'm sorry. Well, no. You know what? If you're coming from that perspective... That's all I'm saying. If you're going to give Najee Harris the ball on the goal line, then that was a goal line type of situation of, I guess... That's the point I'm making. Yes, but in the end, Justin, you're still right. Cam Skattebo, who, let's be honest, we love Cam. He runs his mouth a lot. Hold on to the football, dude. If you want to be a running back one in this league, you can't fumble in that spot. No, you can. There's no excuse for it. No excuse. I also do want to talk about that when talking about the little things, because I do think the little things costed the Giants this win. Didn't cost them the game. It costed them the win. We talked about the fumbles, put the ball on the ground, same thing with Jameis Winston, against the Blitz and taking some bad sacks. That fumble that he had was pitiful, pitiful, pitiful. The first half offense, kind of relying on Dominic Zavada kicking long field goals. The first one was 50 wide right. He made a 51 yarder. Then it was a 57 yarder that was wide left. He made the 56 yarder. And then the 46 yarder was wide left in overtime. And damn, man, that was the shortest one and he missed it. So the little things like that of a kicker that was nine for nine and perfect, in his NFL career, had a bad day. And he showed that he had a bad day in pregame warmup. He showed that it was going to be a challenging day in pregame warmups too. For all the flowers that we gave Malik Neighbors, he had two drops this game. The one that was thrown to him, that first and goal from the one and a half yard line before Isaiah likely catches his first touchdown. That one was tipped by Sonny Styles. I'm not counting that as a drop. Right, I agree. It was a deflection. But, it was a screen in overtime, right? Where he had a lot of open space in front of him. That was the worst one to me. And then, at the end of the first half, where a ball hits him at the tip of his fingertips, and he pushes off, they didn't call it a push off. Interested if he catches the ball near the goal line, if they call it a push off. But, that was a drop too and it could have gone for a touchdown. So, Malik Neymars wants the ball, Malik Neymars wants to say this, Malik Neymars wants to get emotional, and he did have a good game. But, those two little things and little moments in a game where the Giants don't win, you got to look back and those are pivotal turning points for you. They are. I didn't have as big a deal with the, I mean, the hand checking none. I still don't think that was OPI either. Again, Phil, I thought it was just terrible in this game. That one I still thought was kind of a crappy throw, that it was great that he even made a play on it. I would, again, I have to go back and rewatch the game. I might be able to change my mind on that. But I know the early social media returns where people were killing neighbors for that and things. So the one, the screen though, Justin, that is one where you're talking about, and Malik neighbors wants to complain about getting him the ball, right, then you better make that play. That play could go, who knows, 15, 20 yards, it changes all the field position in overtime anyway. And like maybe by the butterfly effect, they're in a different, you know, realm down distance and it doesn't lead to the fumble and they win the game. I thought that was the most egregious drop of them all. But I'm with you. In the end though, dude, we're going back to back 100-yard games from Malik Neighbors with a touchdown. And when you consider the fact that we've passed now the four-week mark, where a lot of us thought it would be when Malik Neighbors was finally making his debut, I don't know, man. Pretty positive sign that we're cooking here with Malik Neighbors in back-to-back weeks, even with those drops. I do also think this was the most juice he showed after the catch as well. Yes, I agree. Now he also, with that juice, he has to be right, there was a couple of moments, I don't know if you were screaming at your TV like I was, run forward though, dude. I know you're trying to make that extra move with the extra juice you have, but I think he almost cost him a first down on one. He was lucky to recover, get back. I think there were at least two circumstances today, Justin, where I hate that. It's the old Sonorus Moss. Don't run backwards all the time. We need that yardage. It all matters with this offense. 11 catches, 20 targets, 121 yards, 11 yards per reception on the 20 targets. Get that through your thick skull. He also had a touchdown two weeks in a row with a touchdown for Malik Neighbors too. Back-to-back 100 yard games, back-to-back weeks with touchdowns, and both Heyman Azeh likely with over 11 receptions. There's some other Harbaugh stuff and decision stuff and little things, little details that I want to talk about too. But we do have to talk about SeatGeek first, Shaun. So there's two Harbaugh coaching things in this game that stick out to me. All right, give it to me. One, at the start of the second half, where the Giants kick a field goal, Dominic Savada, that is the 56 yarder that he kicks. But the Giants having nine play, 35 yard drive that takes four minutes off the clock. And it actually looks like they're kind of going like, the first play of the second half is a Jameis Winston pass, Swazay likely for 11 yards. Then it's a Kam Skattebo run for seven yards. Then it's a Kam Skattebo run for four yards and we're avoiding third down. They had the second and 15. So obviously they have the illegal shift, the damn illegal shift on what was JJ McCarthy's first pass completion as a giant that screened the Malik neighbors. But it was the illegal shift on Zay likely because he wasn't set. He had both illegal shifts, I think, in the game. Yes. We lost the game because of an illegal procedure. Get your ass down, Tom Gluffin says. So now turns into a second and 15. Jameis Winston completes a pass to Malakai Fields for 13 yards. JJ McCarthy is put back in the game, which this frustrates the hell out of me. When you're in a drive where you're actually starting to run the ball well, and you're operating on early downs pretty well, you put JJ McCarthy in the game and then he goes for no gain. It's like, why are we doing? That is definitely where they got way, way, way too cute at certain points with JJ McCarthy, especially the one damn drive where they started to run the ball well. Yeah. So, Shaun, it's a fourth and two now from Washington's 37 yard line. And I thought it was just risky to put Dominic Zavada out there anyway. Forget the result of him making it. I would have definitely gone for it there. Yeah, I mean, I got to be honest, Justin, in real time, I thought points were at a premium. I would have kicked the field goal, but I totally get where you're coming from. But it just comes back to the whole thing with McCarthy slowing it down anyway. I'm totally okay with JJ McCarthy taking over as quarterback of the New York Giants, if that's what you're choosing to do, because you feel like with his mobility, it opens up more of what you want to do as an offense. Period stop. What I am not okay with is disrupting the flow of a game. And when you bring in McCarthy, have the entire defense know, the whole reason you're bringing him in is there's going to be some mobility and run involved, to your point. Like his only throw was a play that was negated by a screen the other way. Like McCarthy comes in that game in that scenario. The entire Washington defense from Daron Pena now knows that JJ McCarthy is likely picking his ball up and he's gonna try to get the first down with his legs. Like you were not fooling anybody and all you did was disrupt momentum and then to follow that up. I think that was kind of a give up. Like I got to kick the field goal here because now I'm going to bring Jameis back in. I just, you know, I screwed the whole flow up if you're Harbaugh or Nagy at that point. So I think that's why I didn't have a problem kicking the field goal. The bigger issue was bringing McArthur to be predictable to begin with. On third down. Yeah, that's it. Yeah. No, that's fair. That's fair. I just hate it that it was the start of a half where the Giants offense really was thumpin and goin. And it ends right there with three points. And then what happens is the commanders go down. I still think this is the biggest swing of the game, even though the Giants came back and tied it. The Giants kick a field goal after having a 35 yard drive, four minutes, and they wind up on, wound up on the other side of the 50 yard line. And then what do the commanders do? Eight plays, 72 yards. Their first play is a 17 yard pass game to Antonio Williams. And then eventually, Jane and Daniel scrambles up the middle for a 38 yard touchdown. And it's a, and like 19 to six, that's where it really felt like that was it. That was it. That was over. It felt like all momentum was dead. I'm completely with you. I think I had tweeted that out at the time, that it's hard to envision them coming back. They felt dead in the game. But, you know, the commander's commander, man. I mean, let's be honest, the Giants deserve a lot of credit. And I think all the sandpaper that they have kind of built up the last couple of weeks with closed games and what the coaches installed in them, had them not out of this game. But at the same time, at 19 to six, Justin, and all the moments that happened in this game after, that is every bit the fingerprints of Dan Quinn, who oversaw a 28-3 Super Bowl collapse written all over it. Now, let me ask you this, too. I'm not talking about going for two when they tie it. To win the game? Okay. When you go for two and you do this down eight strategy, you do it when you're down by eight. Right. You do it when you're down by eight. So seven minutes and 24 seconds left. That's where Jameis Winston throws it to Isaiah Likely. The commander showed that zero blitz on what was a fourth and eight, by the way. Fourth and eight, they show zero blitz. Nobody covering Isaiah Likely over the middle of the field. And then Likely gets in, dives for the goal line. It looks like he fumbled, but he didn't fumble. He crosses the goal line and he's all good. And the call was reversed on the field. Well, it was never reversed. Hold on. Time out. I'll let you finish the point. It was never reversed on the field. It was replay to confirm a touchdown on the field. Well, right, because they were all fighting. They were all fighting and everything like that. So while they were all fighting, and they were fighting for the ball at the bottom of a pile. What was going on with fighting for the ball was so irrelevant to what had actually happened. But if you were watching Fox, you would have no idea. Isaiah Likely very clearly broke the plane. Nothing that happens after matters. And all they were doing was confirming that he broke the plane before the fumble. And we still never got word on a clear recovery anyway, because the refs never pointed. TV deceived you as to what was actually happening there, Justin, but carry on. Yeah. So the question is to go for two or to not go for two in that scenario. Because even if you don't get it, Shaun, Yeah. Then you will have an opportunity, if you score again, you will have a second opportunity to therefore tie the game. But if you get the two-point conversion when there's seven minutes and 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter, then seven points will give you the lead. Yeah, I'm just going to tell you, Justin, I hate the math when other people love doing that. I'm so anti the go for two on the first touchdown guy. That being said, I'm willing to do it under certain circumstances, and to me, that depends on who you are as a team and who you are as the opponent. And frankly, man, as long as Jameis Winston, who I know he was able to scramble for a couple of first downs, is the quarterback of this team, and you basically pose no run threat duality with him on a two point conversion, I have zero interest in feeling like I want to make one of two two point conversions late in the game. If I don't have to, I want to keep extending that game under the new overtime rules, which we saw with both teams having a chance. So, I don't know, for me, not with Jameis. Now, maybe if JJ McCarthy was the starting quarterback, and I know at least I have a couple different options to go to, I just think, I know they got one with Najee Harris last week. I know they did, and that was versus an Arizona bad interior defensive line. I think you are so predictable on a two point play, or at least you're taking a third of your opportunities out when it's Jameis Winston as your quarterback. So I was fine with playing for overtime, kicking the two extra points. Yeah, for me, I would have liked to see it, because I think the odds of you failing on two, two point conversions are low. Okay. The odds of you being unsuccessful on two, two yard plays are unlikely. Even when a quarterback is turnover prone and can't run? Yes, but I think because the offense was booming at that point, that's what they were doing. They had the momentum in the second half. They were clicking on all the right cylinders. I would have liked to see them go for two on that first one, and then obviously whether you get it, if you get it on that first try, then it's awesome and then you are set up to win the game. And then if you don't get it, then you have another opportunity to tie it later in the game. Okay, again, if they got it, I'd be going nuts. I'm pretty consistent with this. I'm not a two point guy in that whole math. I just am not. And I think Harbaugh is one of those guys that he's gonna trust his special teams. He's gonna put the trust in his guys and we're gonna kick the field goal. And remember, he said last week, was it last week or two weeks ago? And I know it was early in the game when they missed the two point conversion in the first half. I forget which week it was. He said he said that he would have liked to have it back. He would have liked to have it back. I don't think he's going to be aggressive in those spots as long as this is the current scenario. Now, a Jackson Dart led offense, completely different, which, by the way, Jonathan Vilma also thought when the white quarterback came in, it was Jackson Dart today. That was another one for him. He did? Oh, yeah. He goes Jackson Dart in the game now. Everybody's screaming at the TV. It's JJ. McCarthy, you moron. Don't you twisted the knife in us. Oh, my God. All right. Is there anything else offensively that you want to talk about, man? Well, the other thing we don't have word on, what the hell happened to Eluemunor? Lower body. That's all they said after the game. I didn't see anything. I mean, I didn't see anything after the game. I just knew that it was a lower body as it happened. I mean, Jeff, if there's any time that you see some quotes coming out of the beat, feel free to throw them up on the screen. But Jermaine Eluemunor goes down and that sucks because man, has he been like as Andrew Thomas has struggled with injury and man, what a warrior Andrew Thomas is. I don't have the snap counts in front of me right now. I want to see how many snaps the offense had to play. These guys were a bunch of warriors, all of these offensive players today with the amount of snaps that they had to play. Seventy-nine, actually, no, excuse me, eighty-nine, eighty-nine offensive snaps Brian Hudson, Francis Moenowa, Andrew Thomas, and John Runyon took today. Eighty-nine, eighty-nine. And especially Thomas with the groin. But also, shout out Marcus Bowe. On that third and two, that sweep, the shotgun sweep that went to Kam Skattebo, Marcus Bowe getting out in space, leading the way, and putting a commander on their ass. That was some awesome, awesome stuff. And Per Dan Duggan, Eluemunor, said he thinks that the strain calf doesn't seem to expect it to be long-term. Good news. Good news. But that also could be, he doesn't play the next two weeks with the Vibe. But this is the benefit. Like you just said, Marcus Bowe in the positive place. Marcus Bowe playing right tackle, like he did in the preseason, the offense seemed to be flying when he was in the game, Justin. I mean, he scored two touchdowns down the stretch. Yeah, I just really wonder what's in store for this rushing offense, because I don't think that this rushing, this offensive line is as good as maybe we thought. And we're seeing just how dogshit the Cowboys are now. We're seeing how dogshit they are. They are a horrible, horrible defense. Like I think player wise and even Christian Parker is not perfect, but they got some bad players that aren't executing as well, making really bad mistakes too, that the coach certainly isn't telling them to make. So, I kind of think that type of... The way that they played week one and the way that they won week one by playing bully ball, I don't think that's going to be repeatable unless you're playing a dogshit bad run defense. So, they're just going to have to find ways to get a rushing game that isn't unbearable and unusable. Yeah, and look, this will be the cue for everybody to go to the Talkin Giants Instagram. I'd like somebody on there, when we put up our questions for our mailbag in our midweek episode, to ask about more usage for Tyrone Tracy after today's game, because I think that would be a good time to expand upon that with the run game, based on the fact that Tyrone Tracy hasn't fumbled in a couple weeks and seems to be getting positive momentum going. You heard it. Tuesday, Tuesday morning, I'll put it up on the Talkin Giants Instagram. That's where we take our mailbag questions. All right, one more ad, and then we're going to talk about the defense. And man, like, defense was fun. Defense was fun at certain points. Final sponsor of today's episode is HIMSS. OK, this is where I'm at with the defense. First of all, Abdul Carter deserves flowers. He absolutely wrecked the game down the stretch a week ago versus Arizona after we called him out this week, forcing that fumble, having the sack early in the game as well. And I just thought again, you know, second straight week when the team needed to dial up pressure. Justin, remind me the podcast and show that was talking about using Drew Phillips in blitzes and how much better that would make his game. I mean, jeez, you think that's paid off a little bit? That was us all over, by the way, Rep. Drew with the 22 here. You've been talking about it all off season, by the way, not just the last couple weeks. And it's really clicking now. So they're having trust clearly with Deontay Banks on the back end and sending more pressure. I hate it, obviously, the first drive. They got to figure that out and clean this up because it's back to back week starting the game as ugly as they did. And there were certainly some ugly, I know Nubin leaves the game with an injury, but he looked lost at times. Artarius Washington ends up making a big play, by the way, as well. But overall, Justin, I think the theme of the game is just Jane Daniels breaks two really long runs, Bill Jacari married, he breaks a long run. Other than that, it was the Giants doing what has worked best the last couple of weeks, and that included pressure. Listen to this game by Drew Phillips. Five combined tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, four quarterback hits. Four! Four quarterback hits. Yeah. But that's just, Drew Phillips is a downhill player, man. And he's really thriving now in Dennard Wilson's system. Look, when he's been asked to make plays, they're not always perfect in the second, but he hasn't been beat every time. But he's a willing tackler, dude, in the run game, and then getting after it in the pass rush. So, I just think the more usage out of that is a positive. But to me, Justin, I think the game comes down to three broken run plays, two of them by Jaden Daniels defensively. Other than that, I'm not going to scream and yell about the defense. I just can't. Yeah. What did you think about not using Arva Reiss as a quarterback spy? Like, they didn't do it at all, you know? It's a great point. They didn't. We had talked about on our pre-show pod about the idea of, like, quarterback spy, but do you really want to take him out of the game plan in general? I think, Justin, they were kind of leaning on what you had said, too, which was, let's just keep using Arva Reiss the way we want to use him. There's a chess piece part of this where he's coming up and rushing the passer, you know, and then kind of his stuff and coverage and coming downhill in the run game. I think Arva Reiss can absolutely be a weapon versus Jaden Daniels. And I think seeing the way this game unfolded, when the Giants play Washington, which is only going to be on Thursday night and what, four weeks, I think they're going to be more ample to look back and go, you know, we're going to use Arva Reiss in this way now because I just, that's the way you lose the game today. Let's be honest. There's a million ways the Giants lost the game. And that includes Dominic Zavada missing kicks, Cam, they didn't lose, Cam Skattebo fumbling. But the other way they could have lost the game is just simply by, they didn't have anybody that could account for Jaden Daniels on those runs. And that's where Arva Reiss is that kind of guy. He's like built for that. And I do want to make it clear. It's not just, oh, why didn't they stop Jaden Daniels? Jaden Daniels is an insane, insane athlete. You know, he outruns everybody. He does. He's incredible. And I give him credit, too. Like, even when he took off, he knew where he was sliding with those elbows and everything, with the elbow and everything else, he protected himself today, too. And he is why the Washington Commanders, now, albeit there's a huge tie that feels like a loss for them, you can't count them out in what is a topsy-turvy NFC East, because when he's going, he might be the most dangerous quarterback in this division. Yeah, it definitely has the highest ceiling. I mean, nine rushing attempts, nine, 103 yards, had two touchdowns, one of them being 38 yards, and I think the other one was a 22-yarder, so. Yep. I think the 38-yarder was really bad. There was nobody over the middle of the field accounting for him. Pretty sure they were even playing, it looked like they were playing zone. I think Summer Sports charted it as zone coverage possibly at cover three. It certainly looks like they were playing man because of how many, because of how everybody's backs were turned. There was nobody over the middle of the field accounting for Jaden Daniels. And like, you know, but there are even times where even when you have like Orville Reese right on his tail, Abdul Carter right on his tail, Jaden Daniels is just going to outrun those guys. So. Yep. That is really good. I still can't get over though, the idea of forget the Jaden Daniels, the more I'm thinking about replaying the game ahead, how bad was Tyler Noobin on the first touchdown run of the game by Bill Merritt there? Yeah. And I do think he eventually he did get benched, by the way. He did then came back in, got concussed and got benched again. Which I feel like has happened. I feel like that same sequence of events has happened three times this year. It has. Well, very clearly, very clearly Jason Pinnock is starting safety of the team with himself. And Jason Pinnock was out today with the concussion. I feel like Tyler Noobin makes a mistake. Tyler Noobin gets benched. Ardarius Washington either A gets hurt or B makes worse mistakes. Tyler Noobin back in. Yep. And then again, I keep coming back to this. I was shocked when Ardarius Washington made that tackle on the left sideline there. Yeah. Good positive. We got numbers. You want to hear these numbers for Dennard Wilson? Holy smokes. Well, guess what the Giants Blitz rate was today? The Giants. So last week, where we have 58 percent around around there, I think it was I forget the exact number last week, but that it was around. It was around top two in the NFL. I'm going to go less because it felt like they waited a while to get the Blitz truly cooking. I'm going to go 46 percent. Now, dude, it was it was right from the start. It didn't feel that way. Sixty two percent. What he was doing, what Dennard Wilson was doing, especially in the first half, and this was just really impressive and it was different stuff, and I guess not totally expected, but he hadn't really done it a lot this year. He was bringing a lot of pressure, but he was playing zone coverage out of it. Kind of very similar to what Dan Quinn does. We talked about on the preview pod, the commanders are heavy blitz, but they play zone coverage out of it. So he was doing a lot of cover three and cover four while also showing pressure and bringing five up front. 62%. They had a pressure rate of 46%. That's 6% above NFL average. And the sacks were huge. Like forget just the pressure. The sacks that they were able to get, especially when the commanders were driving down the field, they were at midfield with opportunities to take field goals that are either going to give the commanders the lead or win them the game. The pressures, the sacks and the hits that Dennard Wilson was able to call and then the defense was able to execute and keep Jayden Daniels in the pocket. Huge, huge, huge plays. And the overall man-to-zone rate was 37.8% man coverage, which is still 15% above NFL average. I think in the first half, it was, and I'm able to look at this by the way, in the first half, it was, yes, it was a little less. He ran 37% man coverage in the first half, as opposed to the second half, he bumped it up to slightly 40%. I thought it would be more. I thought they ran a little bit more man coverage than that in the second half. So, and then the overall full game, they ran 59.5%, they ran zone coverage. So, they were able to mix both of them in. All that tells me, just from a pure interest standpoint, I actually think this is going to be the most interesting game to now rewatch and digest knowing what happened as well, just to look at all of this stuff. Because the ebbs and flows, the blitzes, the plays that should have been, would have been, could have been, this is actually a really wild game to go back and digest when we get the chance. Another game where Dennard Wilson is not afraid of... He's not. We are at midfield and we are one first down away from losing the game. We are one first down from giving the commanders the lead, and we are not going to play afraid. No. We're not going to play afraid. I like that though. If you're going to get beat swinging, man, that's it. And you have the personnel to do it. The pass rush certainly feels like more of a threat now based on the fact that they've begun blitzing. Yeah. Abdul Carter on the day, five total pressures, one sack, four of them as QB hurries. And that, I cannot get over that insane tackle that he had on third down. Cannot get over it. It was great. It was great. And by the way, though, another kind of invisible day, at least it felt like for Kavon Thibodeau. Kavon did get, he had three pressures. Now, those three pressures are three hurries. Summers, remember I was talking, telling you about that impact, those impact play stats. Kavon Thibodeau led the Giants in impact plays with seven. Again, I'm not totally sure what I think about that stat. But I have a feeling we're going to watch, we're going to watch all 22 and we're going to see Kavon Thibodeau being a little bit more active in the run than maybe we initially thought. And I also could be wrong in saying that. So that's going to have to be a rewatch. It is. I feel like there's going to be a lot. We're going to. This is why you need to download and subscribe to Talkin Giants because we're going to be all over all of this stuff in the midweek episode. I was very impressed with CJ Okoye from this game as well. OK, all right. He didn't really. I got to be honest with you. He didn't stand out to me. Good or bad. Very impressed by DJ Reader has another, I think, great game. Yeah, he had a great tackle behind Alanis. I think it was behind Alanis Grimish. He had a tackle for us. Shelby Harris with another pass breakup. And it's funny that the commanders get a you know, they have a touchdown drive, right? They have a touchdown drive to start the fourth quarter in the fourth quarter. It's their it's their touchdown drive. The Giants have the ball for seven minutes. 17 play, 59 yard touchdown drive. The Giants make it 13 to 19. Then the commanders come out. Their first play, Joukory Kroski-Merritt gets a 22 yard gain. And Shelby Harris and DJ Reader are off the field. So I didn't love that. Yeah. And then they allow 22 yards. So, but I do, but I still do overall. For most of the time, the interior defense line had a great game. And then, of course, Darius Alexander making the play of his life by accidentally kicking a football. I can't believe I missed that he did that. I cannot believe that. Yeah. So anybody else? We talked about Drew Phillips, talked about Abdul Carter having a great game. There is also one call. Remember the play where Tyler Newbin gets his, like his neck snapped and speared by Lucas Patrick? Yep. Drew Phillips comes in on a blitz. And I think this is one of his four quarterback hits that they're counting him for. Abdul Carter also gets held on a play, too. He has like he there was this play where he was shot out of a cannon. And you can go back and watch it. It's the play that Tyler Newbin gets hurt, just absolutely shot out of a cannon. And he kicks the ass of the right tackle and he gets held. And it's crazy the amount of holding calls that just totally missed on Abdul Carter. It's nuts. I agree. Every time you look up, he's being tugged at. And if I had to hear Jonathan Vilma tell me one more time that some of these plays that Washington had that were holding and passive fairs weren't, he drove me nuts too. I just, rare time with the penalties, a broadcast actually distracted me from what the hell was going on. But we tied, we tied. We're 3-1-1. This is the best I felt about a tie in my life. I'll keep coming back to that. Because we were the ones that screwed up and still got bailed out. That's always a good feeling. You never want to be the team that screws up a last on a tie. Yeah man, it's just cool that they don't, they don't say die. They don't. They don't. They gave it away. They gave it away. You know why, Justin, you know why they never say die? Because this is my Harbaugh era. Shopmedia, shopjomboymedia.com. shop.jomboymedia.com. shop.jomboymedia.com. My Harbaugh era shirts. My nerdy came in. I can't wait to wear it to work this week. That's called a plug, folks. Do people like I really want people to leave a comment on this, and I'll be sure to look at the live chat replay too. I really didn't get a sense from the fan base on how they feel after this. Is there a positive feeling or a negative feeling? I'm going to assume it's mixed, man. Were you at the tie in 2022? I was, yes. OK, so I don't know how you felt, but I remember leaving that game with probably the oddest feeling I've had leaving a game, which was was that last three hours like a waste and it felt more negative than it was positive? I certainly didn't walk away from the television today. Now, I'll be it. I wasn't in the building feeling that same feeling. I felt more positive because I thought under the circumstance, this team just showed grit, showed fight, and it was great to watch a division rival triple over themselves and not get the win. So I don't think it's like euphoria like last week versus Arizona, but it's probably the best tasting. It's got to lean more positive. I would think it has to be, and especially knowing the Cowboys and Eagles lost this week. Dude, I was so close. Now thinking about the alternate timeline where Dominic Zavada gets redemption, he kicks the game-winning field goal, the Giants offense kicks ass in the second half, they finally ran the ball well in overtime and did it when it mattered. Dude, Zavada makes the winning field goal in overtime. We're talking about Lawrence Fiennes, 07 NFC Championship type stuff with the missed field goals. I'd be a straight-up asshole. I would become a straight-up asshole. Do you understand or just in general? No, just in general, because what would it have been? A two-game lead in the East? Yeah. Yeah, exactly. But one and a half is better than one, man. I'm telling you, the tie, it's a positive in the standings right now. I appreciate NJ Roofers. He has been the man most recently. I don't know what I do without you guys. Probably drive my truck off a bridge. Well, don't do that. Don't do that. People need their roofs done. I'm missing a hedge cap on top of my roof. Don't do it. I'm just looking for you, NJ Roofers. 3-1-1. Can't take it away? Can't take it away. And we play the 1-4 New Orleans Saints next week, who we owe a little bit of revenge for after last year's meltdown. Let's go. Oh, great point. Great point. Revenge game for me personally. All right, man. So hope you enjoyed that recap. I mean, I kind of came into this with no semblance or no sense of direction. You got anything else, man? I got nothing, man. I'm feeling good. I'm feeling good. The vibes are good. We're entering the late October with a game and a half lead in the NFC East. How could the vibes not be good? Appreciate you all listening. We will see you on Wednesday for a mid-week Talkin Giants episode coming off a tie. Enjoy your tie Monday. Let's go Giants. It starts today. Let's go Giants!

Takes mentioned in this episode

  • Jameis Winston player · negative
“So Jameis Winston is just playing on borrowed time at this point. The next time they basically lose a game, you assume, unless they lose it 45-44 and it's just about the defense.”
  • Washington Commanders team · positive
“And he is why the Washington Commanders, now, albeit there's a huge tie that feels like a loss for them, you can't count them out in what is a topsy-turvy NFC East, because when he's going, he might be the most dangerous quarterback in this division.”
  • Isaiah Likely player · positive
“But if it's not working, the two best players you have on offense are named Isaiah Likely and Malik Neighbors. And everything got more comfortable for Jameis Winston when it became a game about those two guys. It was like sitting at a blackjack table versus the dealer going, Oh”
  • Jameis Winston player · positive
“And everything got more comfortable for Jameis Winston when it became a game about those two guys. It was like sitting at a blackjack table versus the dealer going, Oh my God, here's an ace and it's Isaiah Likely or Malik Neighbors every time where you just know they're going to”
  • Jameis Winston player · negative
“He ends up- The Jameis Winston experience. Go ahead. 54 attempts on 33 completions, 326 yards, two sacks, total of 21 yards lost.”
