49ers Rush Podcast with John Chapman

49ers vs Commanders Preview and Predictions

This transcript does not include audio timing.

And for the 49ers Rush Podcast. And here's your host, John Chapman. What is going on, Faithful? It is great to be with you guys today. And man, a little bit different routine whenever the 49ers have Monday Night Football. We gotta switch it all up, man. It's all crazy. So the day of the game, we are doing our scouting report, 49ers vs Commanders, preview, predictions, bets, you name it. That's today's show, which usually we don't do the day of the game. There's NFL happenings all over. The Rams suck. They are in dead last place of the NFC West. That is something to celebrate for sure. Horrible news. Jalen Hurts, several blood clots. His season's over. Just hopefully he's okay health-wise. But how that impacts the NFL season, the Eagles pretty much done. You have Chris Ballard, who I have been saying for I think five years consecutively, is the worst general manager in sports, has been relieved of his position. Not that we are excited about anybody losing their job. That's not it at all. But now you find that this is what I've been saying. No team is selling until people start to lose their jobs. That's just the harsh reality. There are 32 general managers in the NFL. Now there's 31. So now there is conversations to be had about fire sale and acquiring players and all that stuff. And now the conversation begins. And so I do not expect the Colts to start dealing players today. I don't think that that's really the way that that's going to look. I think it's a little bit more of, okay, everybody's on notice. He was by far the first one that had to go. He should have went along a time ago, but the Earthsay family was so loyal to him to a fault. And then you went out and blew a 17 point lead to the worst team in the NFL. And so they've got back to back games at Minnesota, at Jacksonville. Then you have the at home against the Dallas Cowboys for the Colts and then the trade deadline November 10th. So that's kind of where that is. But those conversations need to be had. It is time to have those conversations. And, you know, everybody wants to talk about, and rightfully so, DeForest Buckner. I love DeForest Buckner. I would love DeForest Buckner to come back and, you know, his comments after the game that he's so tired of it, and he's just sick of losing and whatever else. And it's just like, man, that sucks. Hope that paycheck was worth it. I love Buck. He chose money. And, you know, what was the... A lot of people got mad at me because I put that out there on social media, and people were like, you're better than this, John. One, I'm not better than anything. That's just my interpretation of the events. Here is the quote from John Lynch. Quote, bucks earned it. So if you believe you can get that number, go get it. But you better bring back a first round pick. End quote. That is the quote that he said to Segal, The Buckner's Agent, when they were at the Combine, I remember it like it was yesterday. This is show 1748. Yep, we were covering the Niners then. We are not a new show. But they were talking at the combine. And... John Lynch asked. What do you think in PayWise for DeForest Buckner? And the agent said, it's gonna start with the two, it's gotta start with the two. John Lidd said, I don't think we can do that, so... Bucks earned it, so if you believe you can get that number, go get it. But you better bring back a first round first round. Nothing wrong with Buckner wanting to get paid. Nothing wrong with that. Dude deserved it. Dude's a baller. He's incredible. But, but he got paid. The grass is not always greener. Ask Stray Greenlaw. Ask Debo. Ask Buckner. You want to fight for money? Go get it. You want to fight for a playoff win to the chance to compete in the Super Bowl? You might want to stay. I hope he comes back. I want him to come back. Now, you look at just kind of what Buckner has done. He's got four sacks all the season, four tackle for losses, eight quarterback hits. He's awesome. He's 32. He's in an expiring contract. He's pretty damn good. He's pretty damn good. I would love to get him back, but it's not just him. If you look at the Colts expiring contracts, I have OTC up right now over the cap. DeForest Buckner, yes. Quentin Nelson, he was a major get beforehand. Now, I don't think that I would be willing to pay that crazy price, that it would take probably a second plus to get. You got Connor Colby. Yeah, Quentin Nelson is way better than Connor Colby. There is no doubt. Plus, Connor Colby is coming off his worst game. However, Niners are up against the cap in the future. You have Connor Colby on a rookie deal for not only this season, not only next season, but the following season as well. That is a very cheap. Dominic Pune, he's under contract as well. If you can get Quentin Nelson for pennies on the dollar, great. I'm not overpaying. Grover Stewart is the name I don't think people are talking about. Yeah, he's old. Interior defensive line. He's awesome. Mo Ali Cox, the tight end. Niners need another tight end. Go get the big dog. He would be good. Jerry Tillery, interior defensive line. He fits like there are guys that fit. There are guys that fit. And then if you look at two years out, so these are the Colts free agents, not this season, but next season, you heard John Lynch say, we don't want players for one year rentals. We want two years, multiple year guys. Arden Key, he's 32, but you know that fits. Leutu Latu, that is the guy that I would just be like, you know what, I might pay a little bit more for him. He was a first round pick, so he comes with a fifth year option. He's 26 years old, two passes defense, only one sack. He has not lived up to his first round pedigree. But man, that guy just, he had eight and a half sacks last year. He's just had a bad year and he's 26. Like, if you're asking me what the conversation starts with, I'm starting with Leotu Latu. That is the one. Would I do a first? No. Would I do a second? Hell yeah. Would I do a second plus? Yes. I wouldn't do that for Buckner. But like, again, if the 49ers are trying to stick with this idea of we're looking for multi-year players that can come in and help, Leotu Latu, which I'll have to practice saying his name a little bit better. That one is there for sure. Tanner Bordellini, who's one of my favorite Rush Crush players, coming out at center. I take him in a heartbeat, but I don't think the Niners would do that for a center move. Very similar to, I think, the long-term center's Carver Willis, short-term center. You've got in-house with Jake Brendell. So that's where that is. So Rams suck, Colts fire sell, incoming, fun times. I want to say thank you to all the hashtag CCs. You guys are the best. What's up, RTP? What's up, brother? What's up, Matthew? My man. Glad to see everybody in here. Kimbrough, you have Rams lose. What a watch we get. Seahawks lose, Rams lose, Cowboys lose, Eagles lose, lose, lose, lose, lose. Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. You know what's funny? The Rams traded their first-router and Jared verse to the Browns. The Browns are now in first place. The Rams are in last place. And the first-route pick that they traded to get Miles Garrett, who's still not close to coming back, is the top-tip pick if the draft were today. I remember when that trade happened, and a lot of people were just like, sky is falling, what do we do? What do we do? What do we do? And I was like, dude, no, no. This is not a match what they're doing scenario. You do what's best for your team. And this might work out for the Rams. Right now, it looks horrible. Sure as hell worked out for the Browns. Sure as hell worked out. Jared first has been great. And they've got a top 10 pick coming on the horizon. Yeah. Oh, what's up, Thomas? Everything's good, man. I will say I woke up super cranky. I had crazy heartburn last night, man. Woke up at like 12. I was up from like 12 to 430, answering emails and all kinds of other stuff. And finally fell back asleep. Now I'm all cranky whenever I woke up, but the coffee is helping. But yeah, everything is good, but man, I was a mess. I was a mess. Yeah, ice cold. He says, yeah, last two weekends been great. Seahawks, Rams, Eagles, Cowboys losing. Dude, just everybody's sliding off. The NFC, man, if you just look at just the NFC as a whole, who's good? Who is good? You've got all the NFC North, which they are in the conversation. Minnesota, Green Bay, Chicago, Detroit. Detroit defense is awful. I think Chicago's defense is awful. Green Bay is hit or miss. Minnesota is good, but their offense is definitely far from good. The entire NFC East is god-awful. I think Cowboys still win that division, even though they suck. I have no faith in the Giants. I have Eagles. I think they're done. Washington has been done. I think that's the next organization to start firing people. Tonight will play a large part of that. Then you get to the NFC South. I think there's only one quality team there. That's Carolina Panthers. That doesn't really scare me. The Saints, they're spicy. The Falcons are either red hot or ice cold. There is no in-between. We'll play them next week. And the Tampa Bay Bucks. Yeah, again, another team close to fire mode. And then you've got the NFC West. What's the 49ers are awesome. Seattle will be a good team. I really hope that doesn't happen. If the Eagles go full fire sell, I am a little worried about that one. Not gonna lie. Rams are in last place. Cardinals, the Cardinals have more wins in SoFi than the Chargers and Rams combined. Who's house? What a joke of a franchise and fan base, dude. Just such a joke. Who's house? And I gotta say thank you to my man, Josh. You see him right here, 40 hours faithful forever. He's the executive producer of this series. He does the nitty gritty. He's the freaking man. He is the freaking man. He is the man. Just want to say thank you to Josh. Without him, this show would not have grown into what it is. So thank you. Much appreciated. You are the freaking man. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Now, let's get to... Oh, we got a couple of super chats. Let's get to those. Trey, my man. What's up, dude? Nice seeing Mav in the picture. Fully believe K9, Kerry Darnold. Yeah, talking about Kenneth Walker. And F the Rams. Bring home to Forrest Buckner. Mav says, hey. And he can't wait to hang out with you guys again, baby. It was so fun. Mav was helping us with the droids and all kinds of... He was great, dude. Mav's the man. Yeah, dude. Talk about a horrible... Now, I do think the Seahawks run game is going to get better when Zach Charbonnet and Price return. But you look at what Kenneth Walker's doing, and it's just like, godly, he's breaking records. Like, that dude is on pace. I don't even know. He's on pace for close to 2,000 yards rushing year. Hopefully, it doesn't continue. I don't want him to get injured, but I hate that dude. Yeah, bring home Defoe. I'd love to have him. Joe, thank you, my friend. This could be the third week we win in both the Rams and Hawks lose. Thank you, Denver. Does this mean the Rams won't go 17-0? Go Niners. You're the best shot right back at you, Joe. Yeah, 17-0. Those off-season crowns melted really, really quick once that season started. Off-season champs doesn't usually go well. And like, you look at what the Rams have going for them, it's not much. What are the chances? What are the chances that even McVeigh finishes this year? It doesn't retire. And go take Troy Aikman's spot in, like, the amount of money they're going to throw out. He almost retired once already. Are Donald going to re-retire? Who knows when Miles Garrett comes back? Matt Stafford over, like, Devontae Adams over. Geez, man. Like, this could get ugly quick. Could now. It's a talented roster. They've got a lot of experience. They could rebound. But man, it's fun to think about how bad this could get so quickly. And now you look at their schedule. It's not bad. This is the Ram schedule. At Raiders, that's a tough game. Then they've got Chargers, Commanders, Cardinals. Three beyond winnable games, but shoot, Commanders beat Seattle. Cardinals already beat the Rams. Then they get a bi-week. Coming out of the bi-week, listen to this. This is a Ram schedule. Packers, Chiefs, Niners, Cowboys, Seahawks, Bucks, Seahawks. Seahawks and Rams play each other twice in three weeks to wrap up the season. And that's like self-mutilation. Like one of them is walking away with at least one loss. They could split the series. Like that is why we kept harping, like dude stacking these early wins. It doesn't matter who the hell you're playing. Just put that distance between you and number two or number three, or in the Rams case, number four in your division. It's huge, man. And the Niners just have that buffer. Kimbrough says, keep Colby. I think it's smart football to keep him. He has not touched, he has not touched what he could be, really. I think there's a lot left with Connor Colby. I really, really do. Yeah, oh, yeah, right here. Kimbrough, Mike Evans was a much better addition than Garrett. So far, not even close. So far, not even close. He has been unbelievable, Mike Evans. He has been unbelievable. And yeah, Jason, I don't think the Rams are finished yet either. We need to keep putting distance between them and us. But man, they got to worry about themselves. Like they are... You look at, like, they very easily could have lost the one game that they won against the Eagles who suck. They could have been on a four-game skid. Like, they could be one and four, or one and five. Like, they're closer to being one and five than they are to be in three and three. Not a good team, not good coaching, not good coaching decisions. Lot of bad decisions. Right here, Tyler. John Chapman and a 49ers primetime game all in one day. Love the 49ers Rush Podcast. Thank you, Tyler. Appreciate you, man. Look at this. The captain of the 49ers Rush Road Trips. He is the man, Rick the Rush Crew. Thank you for your super chat, buddy. Brock Purdy is throwing four touchdowns today. Kittle is getting two of those. CFC one rushing for two touchdowns as well. 42 to 13. Damn. That is a absolute blowout. 29 point victory, I think if my math serves correctly. Don't check me on that. Thank you, Rick. You are the man. We will be with Rick, the man. He is giving everything away. That's his job. That's his role. He's the best at it. We are going to be in hot Atlanta next week, baby. We're going to be the day before the game in Atlanta. We are going to be October 24th at Sports and Social, at the Battery just outside the Brave Stadium. So pumped about that. From 2 to 6 PM, it's going to be an absolute blast. This is one of my favorite places in the world if you've never been there. Really, really, really good time. And then we have our all-inclusive premium tailgate, one block from the stadium. We rented the entire parking lot. Nobody telling us what to do. We are through with that. So we just rent the entire parking lot. It's going to be a Bohemoth tailgate. We're thinking 300 to 400 people plus. Go get your tickets now. 49ersrushroadtrip.com. The map, the times, the address, 547 Mitchell Street. All of that is up on the site for those individual events. Kids are free to every event we will ever host. So bring the kiddos. It's always family friendly, and we make sure every kid leaves with something. Rick takes care and makes sure, you know, it's all about memories, all about building out fans. That's what it's about. And if you can't make it to any of those games, we're going to be in Dallas, Mexico City, Los Angeles, and Arizona. Arizona is now officially up for those events. Day before and tailgate, no matter what they flex, we are going to be there. I got my tickets and all that stuff squared away yesterday. So 49ersrushroadtrip.com if you're coming out to Arizona. And hey, we need more help. I need photographers. You don't have to be an experienced photographer. But if you're coming to one of these events, you want to help us out. We need people going around taking pictures, quick videos of people and the party itself, so we can start to market this a little bit better. And just set up like I want to be able to set up better videos, montages of these events. I'm working, our team is working, and we need to allocate some time and resources to make sure we do a better job. So if you want to come out to some of these and you want to help us, let us know. Email us, 49ersrushpodcast.gmail.com. But if you just want to come and party, go get your tickets. They're up now for every event. It's as cheap as they will be for all of them right now. Do not wait. 49ersrushroadtrip.com. 49ersrushroadtrip.com. Check it out. That's what's up, what's up. So, all right, yeah, Jordan. Seattle just drafted first rounders, didn't they? You cannot pump more running backs if you just negligently didn't walk or leave. That was a terrible choice by them. They made the choice to keep the wide receiver slash kick returner. Has it really worked out? Sam Dardle hasn't looked great. Yeah, it's there. Yeah. Right here, Jason. John, if the team makes one major trade, what position or player do you target? I want a wide receiver. I don't really want Josh Downs. I know he's on the Colts. I don't really want anything that the Chargers have either. I want a wide receiver more than anything else. Then I would go defensive tackle. Then I would go defensive end. Somebody asked me, you know, if I could... I forget who it was, and I apologize. I think it was Brian. He was like, okay, Khalil Mack, Vita Vea, DeForest Buckner, which ones would you prefer? I said in order, Vita Vea. I prefer him. I think it's the biggest need out of those three. Then Khalil Mack, then DeForest Buckner. DeForest Buckner is awesome. I love DeForest Buckner. The problem is what type of defensive tackles do the Niners have currently? You have Osa and you've got Grayson and you've got Sebastian Valdez and you've got James Thompson Jr. They're all pass rush defensive tackles. Like CJ West, what that's gonna look like, it's gonna take a while to recut. Like you need a run stuffer that could specialize in doing that. Nobody does that better than Vita. Defensive end matters, but man, you've got Nick Bosa's coming back at some point. Mikael Williams looked great in his first game back. Romero Heights getting better. Keon White's consistent. You got Sammo waiting in the wings. Like you've got guys, Khalid Karim hasn't been bad. Ogbo hasn't been bad. The one thing that you don't have out of those three things is a run stuffing defensive tackle. That's why I put Vita first. Yeah, so that's where I am. That's where I am. Maria JC is one of the only ones that actually interacts with the chats live and real. Man, I appreciate you guys. It's fun when the super chats come in. We appreciate all the support. It's sometimes on these shows, man, those super chats come in so strong, which I love. I don't even have time to get off of the starred super chat page because they start stacking and I get like 10 to 12 of them. And if people spend their time and money on something, I want to make sure that they get that. So I try to, but yeah, I freaking love you guys. The fact that I get to do this today, I'm the luckiest man alive. Oh, look at this from QJazz. I'm sure I said that wrong. See you in Mexico. I can't wait for Mexico, dude. We were there last time. Oh, it was so fun. It was so fun. Yeah. And right here, Joe, did I hear you say during the last game at Cardinals? We are. We got the venue secure for two days, which was hard to set up, but we did it. We got the tailgate set up. So even if they flex it to Saturday, we'll be there Friday and Saturday. If the game is Sunday, we'll be there Saturday and Sunday. Can't stop us. Jordan, receiver seems crazy. D-Rob nearly back. You have Evans. You have Kittle. You just got Kirk back. I'd rather get past Rusher. Yeah, and Stribble is coming back too. I just, man, that is a lot of old. You know what I mean? Yeah, D-Rob, I love more than anybody. Mike Evans has been all world. Everybody's like old and hobbled. So like that would be the one that I'm just like, I don't know, I would like something there. I would like something there. I would like something there. So all right, let's get through, man, we've got a lot of notes here that we've got to get through. So let's get started with our 49ers vs Commanders Week 6 Scouting Report Games tonight. You come out to the game tonight, come say, what's up? I'll be over at Green Lot next to poll number nine. Come say hi. I'll be out there tailgating with some friends, celebrating birthday, having a good old time. So if you're coming out, come say hi. Swing by, you'll see me. I'll be wearing this hat. And I don't know what jersey I'm wearing. Probably my Bowman. I like to wear the black jerseys at home. I'm not sure what jersey I'm wearing, but I'll be wearing a black Niners one with the black hat. Got to match it. I don't get to wear the black ones on the road too much to game, so I'll be wearing one of the rivalry jerseys. Just not sure which one. I haven't decided yet. Now, the Commanders are 1-3-1 last place of the NFC West, just like the Rams are last place in our conference. Not a good team. Coming off one of the worst blunders, they should have won last week, and they should be 2-3, but Jaded Daniels, no clock management whatsoever. Just football IQ continues to disappear across the NFL. It's a pandemic. It's so bad. People just don't understand. You even saw it with... Was it Walter Nolan? Whenever they blocked the Rams extra point, he picks it up and he's running the two-point conversion back. It doesn't lateral it, even though his teammates are screaming, lateral the ball. He gets tackled, gets up and celebrates because he doesn't understand the situation. He just had no clue. Doesn't matter if you get one yard or 99 yards. If you don't score, it doesn't count. Just football IQ is just non-existent across the NFL, and it's only going to get worse. It really, really will. Now, the Commanders are not a talented roster, and I think what shows even worse on tape than that, they're poorly coached. They are poorly prepared. It's not a good scheme offensively or defensively, and situational awareness is not there. Their strengths, defensive line, wide receiver. But not even really wide receiver, just Terry McClearn. That's it. Secondary, one of the worst in the NFL. Mike Sanders still was awesome his rookie year. He's gotten worse and worse and worse. He's given up six touchdowns in the Michigan nickel. He could be had, no doubt about it. And it's a must win for the Commanders because if they lose, like Dan Quinn's jobs, like people are about to get fired. Adam Peters, I don't know if he's going to maintain his job either. He's kind of responsible for, I don't know. Dan Quinn would be the first to go there, not the general manager probably. Now, Sonny Stiles has been a bright spot, one of the best picks in this year's draft. And so like they have some stalwarts that they are building. That's another reason why I think like Adam Peters, the general manager might be safe. But man, last week, nine penalties, 69 yards. Best players of week five, Terry McLorin, Unreal, Sam Cosme, the right guard. He's a longhorn hook him. He was tackled. They kicked him in the guard. He's been great. Joukroski Marit, he ain't played in this game. Jaden Daniels and Ben Sennett, they're blocking tight end. Defensive players, highest grade was a 76 shy tuttle, their nose tackle. Their safety Reeves. Outside linebacker Joshua Josephs, we liked him in the draft. Darren Payne, Fabian Monroe, like just not great. Just Sonny Styles is their guy. Jaden Daniels, Terry McLaurin. Throwing some Daron Payne, Joukroski Marit, that's their season, but man, that does not make a talented roster. Points scored, 115 total points on the season at 17th, right at average. Points allowed, 141, that's 30th, bottom three. Negative 34 point differential. That's why they are where they are. They've lost to bad teams. They've lost to Philly, bad team. They've lost to the Cowboys, bad team. They lost to the Indianapolis Colts, bad team. The only team they beat, Seattle Seahawks, with Mary on the backup quarterback. And then they tied to the Giants who were just disfunctioned in their bye weeks next week. So if they win this game, this is what Commanders are saying to each other. I don't think Commanders have podcasts to listen to, but if they did, they'd be saying, man, sneak another win just like you did against Seattle, get into the bye week, get things right, and then the season could happen. We're in the worst division in football. There is still hope. That's what the Commanders people would be saying to their fans. Problem is you gotta play 49ers. 49ers are 5-0. They're in first place. They've been incredible. They have 154 points scored, third overall. They've only allowed 93, fourth overall. That's a plus 61 point differential best in the NFL. They beat the Rams, they beat the Dolphins, they beat the Cardinals, they beat the Bracos, they beat Seattle. Pretty impressive. Now, you look at the DVOA, kind of snapshot of the Commanders, their 24th overall. EPA, 22nd on offense, 30th on defense. They're not a consistent team. 49ers, first in DVOA in offense, third on defense. And the 49ers have the highest franchise DVOA ever for this franchise, through first five games, ever. Not the Montana years. The Steve Young 1995 is, like, the fifth best. The top three seasons, nope, I'm sorry, the top four seasons, best DVOA through five games, are all Kyle Shadahan led teams, 2026, 2023, 2019. Oh, I'm sorry, just top three. I misspoke. And then 2012, it's crazy. EPA, they're second on offense, fifth on defense. They're just a good team. Brock is playing some of the best football, ever, like, ever for a quarterback. Just so smooth. And yeah, like, the Commanders are bad. Their offensive line, their average is 6'4, 3'16. 27 years old, they got a good center, and the right side of their line is good. But you remember, like, Lammy Tunsell's on IR. They've given up six sacks, eight quarterback hits, 38 hurries. Brandon Coleman's the starting left tackle out of TCU. He's decent. He's the 38th highest rated tackle out of, you know, 72. Not bad. Chris Paul, their left guard. He's 44th rated guard. Lucas Patrick, their center. It's kind of like a Jake Brindle. A little bit inverse. He's better run blocking the pass blocking. Sam Cosby's been great at right guard. Josh Connerly Jr., not bad, not consistent, but like they have a decent foundation. If Tunsell was back, this would be a top 10 offensive line unit. It would be, but he is not. So they are not. NH Niners, what's up, New Hampshire? Appreciate you, man. Should we go after Scary Terry after we beat them? Yes, 100%. Now, let me look up his contract, because this is huge. Like you've got to have, all right, kind of a weird deal. He signed through 2028, but he has no guaranteed money the next two seasons. So you'd have to rework this deal. The reason why I would say probably not going to trade it. Well, man, if they traded him, they only saved $6 million. The Commanders, they would, now they'd save in the future. This contract's pretty bad. But, man, Terry McLoran's awesome. Like, he is still awesome. Like, there has never been a time that he has been in the NFL. And I'll argue, maybe one of my biggest draft misses, he came out in 2019. I think I had like a third or fourth round on it. I think I had a fourth round great on it. He went in the third round. So I went that far off from the NFL on him. But holy cow, I had no clue he would be this. Now, last year, he only played 10 games. It was the first time in five consecutive seasons that he missed a game. When he plays, he gets 1,000 yards, period, period. One second team all pro, two pro bowl seasons. Last year, played 10 games, 38 catches, 582 yards, three touchdowns. Remember, the quarterback situation was awful. This year, man, it hasn't been much better. 14 receptions, 203 yards, one touchdown for Terry McLaurin. That contract is the difficult obstacle because he's 31. He signed through the 33 season. He has no guaranteed salary the next two years. He's got to hold out. But no matter what, he's with the Niners or not. You'd have to rework that deal. I would love Terry McLaurin. I would love Terry McLaurin. I'm not sure what that deal would look like. Give him one of our, shoot, give him all of our young wide receivers, not named stripling. Give him Jordan Watkins. Give him Jacob Cowley. Give him a third round pick. Have a day. I would do that in a heartbeat. I don't think they would do that. It probably costs, I don't know about a second look into this deal. His contract, it's problematic. His cap number next year is 34 million. His cap number in 2028 is 39.5 million. He's already got a 8.5 million void year. Like this, it's got a self-destruct button on this contract. I'm not sure how much the Niners could just take that on. The player I love, though, Jay Korn. What's up, man? Thank you, dude. So appreciative of you, John. Dude, so appreciative of you. One, I love Korn. Jay Korn might be better. Can I get your take on two players' touchdown parlay for tonight? Dude, I hate, hate, hate predicting touchdowns. The two-player parlay, I would go George Kittle, and I would go Christian McCaffrey. The only reason why I didn't say Mike Evans is just how injured is he? And the Achilles cropping up, I do think he will play. But those would be the two most likely. If you're looking for a bigger payday, you probably got to go Terry McLaurin or Jaden Daniels. I could see a rushing touchdown. And if you want to be super crazy, Rashad White, that would be the big one. That would be the big one. But now I'm staying away from that. Oh, what's up, Captain? Dude, my man. Appreciate you, buddy. Glad to see you. It's game day, ladies and gentlemen. We don't always get game days on Mondays, but Primetime Football, the 49ers, you know, they're by far one of the best. I think they're second best all time whenever it comes to Monday night football games. Yeah. Yeah, this is good. This is going to be fun tonight. Now, the coaching staff for the Commanders, Dan Quinn, 56 years old, you know, he hired Shadahan. Shadahan was there. Raheem Morris was there. He was there for a lot of those guys, won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks. But he coached, Kyle Shadahan was the OC. Remember the famous Falcons let down in the Super Bowl, whatever else. Dan Quinn's a cool dude. He's a player's coach that everybody likes. He's 66, 65 and won all time, all time record, including the playoffs. He loses this game. It's a 100%, 500 career. Ugh. David Blouser, offensive coordinator, 31 years old, played at Purdue, went undrafted in the NFL, bounced around some spots, and man, he has not been coaching long. Came in in 2024, was Washington's assistant quarterbacks. Then he got promoted to quarterbacks. Now he's OC. Like, David Blou has been promoted crazy quick. This is the new trend. Get these former, you know, quarterbacks to become offensive play callers because they have such a good understanding of things. Yeah, it's crazy. And then their defensive coordinator. That's probably the most important for the game tonight. Durante Jones. He is a Brian Flores disciple. Was with Flores all the way back in Miami. Was with Flores in Minnesota, left to be LSU's DC in 2021. Went back to Minnesota for four seasons. This is his first year as defensive coordinator. They blitz and they blitz a lot. Brian Flores has had a lot of success against Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers. Brian Flores has had a lot of success against Brock Purdy. Does that mean Durante Jones, his disciple, will have the same success? We shall see. This is not a good defense. They do have a couple of good pieces. Not a good defense. Now, let's get into injuries. And it's not pretty for either side, but of course the 49ers outnumber their injuries three to one. But there may be some valuable pieces. We'll get to that right after this. My opinion, until I really see the tape. You gotta see the tape to really see what it looks like. But then I'll see it closer on film. The things that we saw on tape, the things that we require. I hope he looks the same on tape. Get better from the tape before we're hoping to have some good film on those guys. And we'll get to that as soon as we get on the plane. If the 49ers coaches and players have to watch the tape, what do you think you need to do? Well, guess what? We got the tape, the 49ersrush.com and our Patreon channel, patreon.com/49ersrushpodcast. We have every offensive, defensive, special teams play outlined in all 22 and end zone coaches tape to go through and show you play by play what this guy did wrong, what this guy did right, who was wrong, who was right, all those things. It's way better than just grades or anything you got. Trust me, once you sign up, you get it all. Seven day free trial right now. Plus we have monthly Zoom hangouts. We place our monthly bets, weekly bets, season long bets, all on there. If you want to be a better fan, you want to understand football better, guess what? The 49ersrush.com is the place to go. All right, we have our Zoom hangouts going to be after the Falcons game on our bye week. That is our next Zoom hangout. Bets of the day, they already posted. We crushed it. We hit both of our teasers already. We have our Niners bets up there as well. I mean, we just, I don't know what magic 8-ball I have over here, but we're doing very, very well, and I hope it continues. And I just, one of my favorite things is just making people money. It's fun. It is fun. Hopefully, that continues. Now, injuries, the 49ers currently have 16 players on traditional IR. There's account Pup and other stuff. The Commanders have seven. So woe is me. It missed me with that, if you want to talk about injuries. And on top of the 16 players on IR, these are players that are already out. Nick Bosa, Debo Samuel, Marquis Siegel, Garrett Wallow. That's another three starters. And Garrett Wallow would be starting with Drake Greenlaw out. But anyway, that's a whole other thing as well. Drake Greenlaw is not playing. He is suspended. NFL sucks sometimes. Questionable. Mike Evans, Grayson Halted, Sierra Nill, Upton Stout, Mikael Williams, Christian Kirk. I expect all to play. I expect all of them to play. Kaelin Black missed some time this week. He had a baby. Congratulations to him. I will say this is the fourth week in a row that Kaelin Black has not got a full week of practicing. I do think that that matters because Christian McCaffrey is going to continue to get the bulk of the carries. Reps are everything. And I'm so happy. I think I've told this story. My very first meeting I had coaching down in Dugaville, Texas, the coach, I thought he was joking. The very first meeting and the first five minutes of our coaching staff meeting, if you have a baby during football season, you will not be allowed to miss. So plan that around the season. And I chuckled like Chubby Chapman always does. And everybody kind of looked at me and I was like, oops, he's not joking. Not a good start, Chap. Like, I think that is absolutely... I take the Bruce Arians approach, family and relationships first. Coaching 15, 16, 17, 18-year-old players is huge. But whenever you have like a 20-person coaching staff in a high school, you'll be all right. Go enjoy your family and the birth of your son. And then Kailin Black, 1000% should do that. However, saying that, he hasn't been practicing. Didn't miss some time there. I still think that he's the number two. I still think... I'm just saying, I am looking forward to the first week and over a month when Kailin Black is at every single practice. I think that that will translate to more touches. That's just the way I see it. Big Red, he knows. Not in Texas, man. Kyle Juszczyk is good to go off the entry report, which is just wild. That is crazy. After that knee hit, makes no sense. Man. Golly. James Thompson, he's good to go. That helps as well on the interior. Now you look at the Commanders, they're starting running back. Czarski-Merik, gone. He is not playing, leads the team in rushing. Charles Amenahue was with the Niners. Now he's with them. He's not playing. Javante Jean-Baptiste Peck, he's not playing. Marcus Mariota, who was the quarterback that beat the Seahawks and who beat us back in Atlanta. I remember that he had the game of his life against us. They are out. Now, questionable, there's a lot there. Jerry McNichols, questionable. Stefan Diggs, questionable. Lucas Patrick, offensive line, questionable. Javon Kenlaw, questionable. Now, here's what's crazy, and I tweeted this out. What if I told you, Javon Kenlaw and Eric Armstead have combined for 78 consecutive starts without missing a game since they both left the 49ers. They left the same time. They haven't missed a game. Insanity. What is it about the 49ers and injuries? I wish I don't know, man. Since you left Candleset, you had Prenate Shanahan. But like Kenlaw, who was just so injury riddled, hasn't missed a game in three seasons. Neither has Eric Armstead. Other questionable tags for the Commanders. Linebacker Jordan McGee. Cornerback Trey Omos. That's a starter for them. Safety Percy Butler. Safety Nick Cross. Safety Tyler Owens. I'm not sure how much those guys are going to play or not going to play. Some of them will not. The history of this match at the 49ers and Commanders, man, it's one sided. 23 wins for the Niners, 12 wins for the Commanders. Once I Shanahan record, shout out to Josh and Eric for coming up with this. Since Shanahan's been here, he's three and two against the Commanders. I remember the the Rain Bowl out there in Washington where the players are slipping and sliding out out there. That was fun. And the last time they played the Commanders, December 31st, 2023, the 49ers won 27 to 10. Brock Purdy was also played against Sam Howell. Elijah Mitchell led the team in rushing 17 carries, 80 yards and a touchdown. He had more carries, more yards and more yards per carry than Christian McCaffrey. Isn't that funny? Brian Robinson was their starter. Ayuk was our leading receiver. Curious to see how he's going to play for the Commanders tonight. That's going to be interesting to see him out there. Sarcasm alert, sarcasm alert, sarcasm alert. Right here, who is Ken Law matched up against the 49ers offensive line? Predominantly, it will be Dominic Pooney and Connor Colby with a little bit of Jake Brindle sprinkled in there. And yeah, he's like, I do believe in revenge games, not that like he has things to be mad about the 49ers. But whenever you play against your former team and former teammates, you put a little bit extra into the game. I think that's huge. You've got Christian McCaffrey playing against his brother. You've got Adam Peters coming from the organization he was with. You have Dan Quinn coaching against his quote unquote protege, Kyle Shanahan. You've got Charles Amenihoo, who I guess he's not playing. But like you've got Ken Law, Debo's not playing. Like you've got guys that have been on both of those. Yeah, I saw this online. What's up, Generic Niners? Oh, yeah. He says, John, fun fact, who was the quarterback the last time the Chargers went 0-6? Yep. Big Jim Harbaugh. He just owned all the records over there. Yeah, it's crazy, man. Now, let's go through the Commander's rankings. This is out of 32 teams. Let's start with the Commander's defense. Points, they're 30th, yards 23rd, turnovers 12th, first downs 23rd, passing yards 29th, passing touchdowns 30th. Are you getting adrift? Are you starting to see? Not good. This sounds like a 1-3 in one team. Now, the one area they are good in on both sides of the ball, complimentary, is the run game. Commander's defense is 8th against rushing yards, 5th against rushing touchdowns, 11th yards per rush attempt. Third downs 24th, fourth downs 26th, red zone 32nd. Dead last. They have given up 15 touchdowns out of 18 red zone possessions. That is 83%. Now, they are going against the 49ers offense, who are first in passing touchdowns, who are first in third downs, and who are first in red zones. Doesn't really match up well. Passing touchdowns seem to be the name of the game. They are 30th to pass touchdowns allowed, 49ers are first in pass touchdowns thrown. The commander's defense is last in red zone, 49ers offense is first in red zone. Doesn't match up very well. Now flip the script, let's go to the commander's offense. 17th in points, 18th in yards, second in turnovers, that is huge. 21st in first downs, 24th in passing yards, 16th in passing touchdowns, 22nd pass per attempts, and then you get to rushing, sixth in rush attempts, sixth in rush yards, 16th rushing touchdowns, eighth in rush yards per attempt. They can run the ball and they can stop the run. Can't really do anything else. They don't turn the ball over. That's the positive. Don't turn the ball over on offense. They can run the ball on offense, starting runbacks out. They can stop the run on defense. That's what they hang their hat on. That is their head coach. That's what he does. Now you get to third downs, 29th, yuck, on third down conversions of the offense. Fourth down, 16th. Red zone, 24th. It's not a good team. Yeah, scary Terry legit. He's legit. Quarterback runs, Cowachipto, what's up, my man? Great to see you in here. Their backs that they're playing with, I mean, you've got the ghost of Austin Eckler. I do think Rashad White's good, but neither Eckler nor White, they've both been in non-contact jerseys all week. Like, Jerry McNichols is banged up too, and he's their number three. Like, this is not a good running back room with Bill Merritt. He ain't out there. So, now, you look at just kind of the schematic tendencies of the Commanders. You know, linebackers and secondary are just not good units. You got Sonny Stiles outside of that's not good. It's one of the worst defenses in the NFL. They stay in base 32% of the time. They blitz second highest blitzing team in the NFL. They don't play dime, but yeah, 39% blitz rate. They second highest before behind Flores, which Flores is at like 80. So you talk about Durante Jones, their defensive coordinator. Yeah, he's a Flores disciple and he blitzes the second most, but he's at half the blitz rate that Flores is at. Like, so it's, it's not the same. It's just not the same. Now the commander's offense, dude, they are shotgun, shotgun, shotgun. They do not play under center. They don't. They stay at 11 personnel, which means you're going to have three wide receivers. 11 means the first number is running backs, one running back, second number is tight end. So one running back, one tight end, three wide receivers, 62 and a half percent of the time. This is going to be a nickel game, which is good for the Niners because you got Dre Greenlaw out. So Upton Stout's going to play a lot. You'll have Fred Warner, Jaden Dugger with about 30% kind of, you know, you'll get Luke Gifford out there. He's going to be the guy. Maybe Tato Betham gets some snaps, but probably going to be Luke Gifford. Not bad in the run. First to run. Pretty bad against the pass. He did almost get two pass deflections last game, but almost what do you do with that, right? Play action 27% of the time for the Commanders, 8% screens. They don't throw deep very much at all. Over 52% of their passes are short to behind the line of scrimmage. They run the ball and they throw the ball short. That's what they do. It's not a good team. Commanders, they pass the ball 52.3%, run the ball 47%, so they're at a pretty good 50-50 split. The Niners almost exactly at 50%. 49.6% pass plays, 50.4% run plays, right where you want to be. Then you start looking at, okay, let's dive into what the Commanders should do, right? So again, if I was the Commanders and I was their coaching staff, what is it that you're trying to do? Jaron Payne and Javon Kenlaw against our interior, try to bully those dudes. That's what I would do. I would bully the hell out of the center. Seahawks had some success against this in the first half, like big physical brute strength defensive tackles. Pop them in the mouth. Connor Colby had some misses. Jake Brindle had some misses. Poonie even had some misses. Test the safeties with Scary Terry. Now Jair Brown has really stayed on top of his, his route's pretty good as a single high safety. He struggles in cover two, which is interesting because cover two is easier. You literally have half the field, but Jair Brown seems to play better in that single high post safety, that single high look. Those cover two looks, you shouldn't test deep. I would with Scary Terry. That's what I would do, especially with 27s back there. Their backup wide receivers, man, the 49ers got a bunch of backups and a bunch of soft backups. Jordan Watkins, Jacob Cowley. Now I'll argue Jacob Cowley a little bit tough. That dude, he been fighting out there on those blocks, which I do like to see, and Jordan walks to get better. But if I was the Commanders, I would bully our wide receivers. Everybody that's not named Mike Evans, do not piss off Mike Evans. Keep him happy. Go out there, shake his hand. Tell him it's nice to ask him for a jersey swap after the, like before the game. Hey, Mike Evans, big, like that's how I would be doing it. I tell my whole team, hey guys, we're going to be nice to him. We're going to be mean to everybody else. Don't piss off Mike Evans. Did you see what happened last week? Don't do that. Be nice to him, mean to everybody else. Be nice to Kittle. Be nice to Christian McCaffrey. Be nice to Trent Williams. He'll kill you. Be nice to Mike Evans. Everybody else be mean to. These guys right here, leave alone. If you, if you, if you, you're cool. All right, I'm out. Peace. Somebody got that. Now, 49ers, what should they do? Brock Purdy, just, just Brock Purdy. I don't care if he's throwing to Luke Farrell, Jordan Watkins, Jacob Cowling, Brock Purdy. You're going to get so many opportunities because they blitz so much. Just Brock Purdy. He's the MVP favorite through five weeks of the season. Let him be himself. Go after Mike Sanders, still Rasul Douglas. I mean, those are some aggressive corners, man. Double moves are going to be there. They're both huge gamble corners. The entire commander's defense you can go after, you should run the ball against them. Even though they're good against the run, they're not great. Commander's offensive line on the, like, I don't know, man. Like, it's not so much, it's not so much that I think the 49ers need to, like, sit back or anything and just like, oh, take what the game gives you. No, no, no. What do the 49ers do every week? Go out there with the run and a pass game called, right? All right, we're going to throw the ball. All right, well, they're sinking back. Can, can, can. We're going to switch to a run play. All right, we got a run game called. Coming out, we're going to run the ball up. They're loading up. Can, can, can. We're going to throw the ball. We're going to go where you're not. We're going to take the numbers you give us, and we're just going to execute. I don't think that the Niners need to do anything flashy, anything crazy. Now, it might throw in a trick play or two. Shade of Hand's been pretty good with that stuff. Just go out there and execute. You are better than them. Across the board, offense, defense, special teams, and for sure the biggest advantage the Niners have this week is coaching staff. The biggest advantage out there is coaching staff. That and probably quarterback play. But like, man, you mean to tell me Fred Warner, right? Who's playing defensive player of the year. Now, there's this rookie that people are comparing to Fred Warner is out there. You don't think Fred Warner is going to freaking have something special. They took away his best friend. They took away Robin. They took away Batman's Robin. You're trying to piss off Fred Warner? How do you think that's going to go? Everybody on this roster, the 49ers team, understands that this team doesn't have its full salary cap money going to them because of a guy named Brandon Iuke, who has been wearing their stuff and posting their film and doing all that stuff. What better way, better way, go out there and shut that damn team up? Like, I feel bad for Jaden Daniels. You're lucky Dre Greenlaw ain't playing because you got a target on your back. Not that you put there. He's kind of cool. Former number 11 put it there. Commander's like, okay, so the key is the victory. Shout out to Josh. He's good at this. Gosh, man, so many things have to go right for the Commanders. You've got to run the ball effectively and consistently all game. Not just one quarter, not first half, not, no, no, all game, you've got to run the ball. You've got to stop the run. Jaden Daniels has to look like the former Rookie of the Year against this defense. You've got to play clean, no turnovers. You've got to limit penalties. And you've got to win on special teams dramatically. So you're talking plus two in the turnovers. Run the ball effectively. Quarterback play lights out. Special teams get you some bonus points. Oh, and by the way, no penalties. Not no penalties, but you know what I mean? Like you've got to win all these different facets. And if you only win three or four out of five of those, you don't win. It's not good. 49ers, they're keys to victory. Man, just go out there and be yourself. Attack the secondary one of the league's worst. Be yourself. Take what they give you. Don't put the ball in jeopardy. That's it. Don't put the ball in jeopardy. Now, Brock's been ripping it, but to keep ripping it, just take the check down every now and then. That's okay. You play a clean game, they cannot win. You play a clean game, the Commanders cannot win. They cannot beat you. You can beat yourself. Any given Sunday. And I answer the Trap Game question every single week. This is Monday Night Football. Every single person in their grandma is going to be watching this. Trap Game, my ass. Everybody sees this. You just saw Seattle lose to this team. You just saw the Rams lose. No, Trap. No. Drake Greenlaw is suspended? No. You've got George Kittle. You've got Fred Warner. You got Christian McCaffrey. You got Mike Evans. You got Trent Williams. Trap Game? The leadership? Come on now. This team fired Shanahan and his dad. What? You fired my dad? Soto Papa? What? No, man. This game fucking matters to so many people in this building and in this room. It's huge. Like, this is not... It's Monday night football, dude. Ah. Man. All right. Time to get to our bets and predictions. We already posted our bets. They're up. We're already two for two. I'm in California, I use it, I use it in Texas. Let's go, MyBookie.ag, promo code 49ers. All right, our bets have been posted. This is probably one of the lowest betting weeks that we have had. But hey, man, aim small, miss small. And the numbers for Vegas are starting to get absurd with the Niners. Like, dude, Brock Purdy's over under is like 19 and a half rush yards. Like, I mean, it's just crazy with what's going on numbers wise. But we do have several 49ers bets up there. Go check those out. My favorite bet with the 49ers is we did under 51 and a half total points. I think that that one's going to be huge. I just can't see the Commanders getting that many points. We'll see there. Sin, what's up? She says, I forgot about the grudge factor. It matters to the players. Some players have, like, that's the thing. Some coaches' players need bulletin board, that little extra sauce to get there. Some people are just Dre Greenlaw that are just maniacal. You know what I mean? So for some people, it matters. Some people, it doesn't. And for, yeah, right here, Shane, yeah. BA alone makes this not a trap game. Dude, he put a target on the back and he even on the damn team. He ain't on either team. It matters. Kimbrough, thank you so much for the Super Chat, man. He says, dude, they also messed up Trent's career. Yes. I love Trent Said. He's like, I almost forgot about my time there. He was there for like eight years. Trent going to retire a 49er and I think that that is just beautiful. Oh, man. And this team has been so close. It's been to the Super Bowl not once but twice. It's been there. And yeah, JJ, I feel you. I think this team is playing every game like it's their last. They've seen how close they've been in 2023 and 2019 and not to get it. They've been there. They've been 5-0 and they go on a three-game skid. There's a lot of the main guys here. You can't do that. You can't do that. You can't do that. Now, let's get to some predictions. Josh is wild but not so wild take. Kaelin Black gets his first NFL touchdown. How cool would it be? Kaelin Black, birth of his son this week, and a touchdown? Hard to predict touchdowns, but that would be badass. He has been getting some go-line carries, so I think that that's huge. Wait, wait, wait. What's going on? Did I miss? Huge? We're talking about Kena, right here, Joe. How did John left Kena Turner off his list of greatest Niners? I don't know what list you're talking about. I love Kena Turner. He's amazing. A little before my time, but no, dude, Kena Turner's a freaking man. But anyway, I don't know what list you're talking about. Maybe we had a post on social media I missed. Now, the 49ers are just so well-coached. And that's the thing. Whenever I'm watching the Commanders play all week and going through their tape, it's just like, what are they doing? Why are they doing that? That's not sound. Yep. No football IQ here. Like it's just a constant just kind of scratching your head. Just so it's like watching JV football. Like at times it's like this is the NFL. From a coaching to understanding football IQ, all those different things. I'm just like, ugh, rough. And yeah, if I was a coach in this game, which thank god I'm not for all of our sakes, dude, you just stick with what you do best. Take what they give you numbers wise. Just gosh, can and to the right numbers. Call your run pass play, get to the line. What are they doing? All right, we're gonna run it. All right, we're gonna throw it. Allow Brock just to hit his hot routes vs the Blitz. I think that that's huge. Defensively, just do your damn thing. Make Jaden Daniels beat you with his arm. I want a lot of cover one, man under. Which, you know, they usually do about anywhere from 12 to kind of 20%. But on third downs, that's what I want to see. And so you stay in your traditional cover three, cover two, cover six, early downs. Bend, don't break, don't give up the explosives. Then on third down, force that dude, and the cover one man under allows whichever side the back releases to, right? So if Jaden Dugger is the right backer, he'll flow with the running back if he flows to the right, left side, he'll flow with the back if he goes there. But the opposite backer now becomes the hook curl defender slash spy. So it's not a traditional spy, the quarterback, but it's a both and. And so I want to see that. I want to see if Jaden Daniels can be great to have Dre Greenlaw this week. These are the weeks that he's at his best, but now he gets to rest a little bit. Take that for whatever. But their wide receivers outside of scary Terry cannot beat your defensive backs. They cannot. They can't. They're not quality. They're not coached well. The scheme isn't great. And they don't execute. Force them to beat you, don't beat yourself. I think 49ers control early and often. I've got the final score being 49ers 30 to 20. But I think that this is like a 27 to 10 game that gets out of control early in the third, and then they get kind of some garbage points and whatever else. I think the 49ers are just too damn good. And any given Sunday applies to every single game, but not on Mondays. It's the prime time. Niners have all the reason in the world to be level 11, which is what you're going to need to be. And just go out there and just do your damn thing. I love it, dude. I'm pretty excited about this game. I'll be out there again. Come say what's up. We'll be at the Green Lot, Pole 9 if you want to come say hi. You'll see me smiling with the modello in my hands. It's usually the way it goes. And the wife's coming out this time, so she doesn't usually get to make it out. She works Sundays, so it's going to be Chapman to Chapman. That's what I'm talking about. You guys are the absolute best. You'll be live from Levi's as soon as the game is over. So as soon as the game is over, jump on YouTube, join us for the live stream celebration or therapy session. I think it's going to be time to celebrate. You guys are the best. Until next time, stay strong, faithful.

“Now, injuries, the 49ers currently have 16 players on traditional IR.”

  • Washington Commanders team · negative
“And it's a must win for the Commanders because if they lose, like Dan Quinn's jobs, like people are about to get fired.”
  • Terry McLaurin player · negative
“14 receptions, 203 yards, one touchdown for Terry McLaurin. That contract is the difficult obstacle because he's 31.”
  • Christian McCaffrey player · negative
“Elijah Mitchell led the team in rushing 17 carries, 80 yards and a touchdown. He had more carries, more yards and more yards per carry than Christian McCaffrey.”
  • Kyle Juszczyk player · positive
“Kyle Juszczyk is good to go off the entry report, which is just wild.”
